01 Overview

Welcome to ChopMenu, a service built and operated by Isaac Godwin Udofia in Nigeria. ChopMenu provides digital menu pages and QR code solutions for Nigerian restaurants and food businesses.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website or services, how we use that information, and the choices you have about it. By using ChopMenu, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Simple summary: We only collect what we need to provide the service. We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We use it to build and maintain your restaurant's menu page — nothing else.

02 Data We Collect

We collect two types of information depending on how you interact with ChopMenu:

From Restaurant Owners (when you sign up):

Restaurant name, address, city, and opening hours
Your name and phone number (WhatsApp and/or call)
Email address (if provided)
Menu items, categories, descriptions, and prices
Food photos (if you choose to upload them)
Your selected plan and payment method preference
Instagram handle or social media links (if provided)

From Menu Visitors (your customers):

Basic page view data (which menu was viewed, approximate time of visit)
Device type and browser (used to improve display quality)
No personal information is collected from customers browsing a menu — they do not need to sign in or provide any details

We do not collect payment card details directly. Payments are processed via Paystack or bank transfer — we only receive confirmation that a payment was made.

03 How We Use Your Data

The information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

To build and publish your restaurant's digital menu page
To generate your unique QR code and shareable link
To contact you about your account, plan, or updates to your menu
To send you your QR code image and onboarding instructions
To issue invoices or payment confirmations
To improve ChopMenu's design and service based on general usage patterns
To respond to your enquiries and support requests

We will never use your data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with marketing companies. Your restaurant details are yours.

04 Data Sharing

ChopMenu does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third party.

The only instances where your data may be seen by others:

Publicly on your menu page — your restaurant name, address, phone number, hours, and menu items are visible to anyone with your link or QR code. This is the core purpose of the service.
Hosting providers — your menu pages are hosted on platforms like Netlify or Vercel. These providers have their own privacy policies and do not access your content for commercial purposes.
Legal requirements — if we are legally required to disclose information (for example, by a court order), we will comply with applicable Nigerian law.

05 Cookies

ChopMenu's menu pages are lightweight static pages. We use minimal or no cookies on customer-facing menu pages.

Our main website (chopmenu.ng) may use basic cookies for:

Remembering your preferences (e.g. saved restaurants in the admin tool)
Basic analytics to understand page traffic (page views, not personal data)

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. This will not affect your ability to view any ChopMenu restaurant page.

06 Your Rights

As a ChopMenu customer, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction — ask us to update or correct inaccurate information
Deletion — request that we delete your restaurant page and all associated data
Portability — receive a copy of your menu data in a usable format
Objection — object to how we are using your data at any time

To exercise any of these rights, simply send Isaac a WhatsApp message or email and we'll respond within 48 hours.

07 Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Restaurant data submitted via our onboarding form is stored securely and accessed only by Isaac Udofia for the purpose of building your menu page.

Menu pages are served over HTTPS (secure connections). We do not store payment card information on our systems.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we do our best to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

08 Children's Privacy

ChopMenu is intended for use by restaurant and food business owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately and we will remove it.

09 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as ChopMenu grows. When we make significant changes, we will notify active customers via WhatsApp or update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of ChopMenu after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
